Photos 19th July 2009

An 6 mile walk starting from Great Offley, to the Northwest of Welwyn this time. Another mid Herts walk with varied landscapes and a large turnout (mid teens for numbers). Unfortunately it was blighted by heavy showers. Parts of the walk aren't covered by photographs as I kept the camera stowed somewhere dry when it rained. One very heavy one hit as we passed a pub at Tea Green, and the decision was made to stop for drinks. I'm so glad we did as this particular shower was very heavy and caused local flash flooding. Walking in that would have been horrendous. Near the end we had a lot of soaking long grass to go through too, which was challenging. And near the end we took an unplanned diversion off path as the route was 'blocked' by a field full of bulls! But a pleasant walk was enjoyed by all, followed by a post walk meal in the Green Man pub at Great Offley.

Setting off over the rolling hills of Hertfordshire with an ominous looking shower in hot persuit. Trying to get JWalkers to pose for a pic is like herding cats. Loo stop at Mangrove Green. Walking along pleasant narrow twisty country lanes.

Walking along pleasant narrow twisty country lanes. Water tower near the shower shelter stop. After the big shower, walking away down a soaking hill with a gnarly tree for company. A bank full of daisies.

A bank full of daisies (crop in). Panorama looking across wheat fields in a valley. A straight path cutting dramatically through a wheat field. The Green Man pub at the end of the walk, and the nice view out the back across the beer garden.
