Walk: Gentle 7 mile walk near Aldenham exploring mostly open land and scattered woodland fragments between Radlett and the River Colne. Walk: 5 mile countryside and wooded walk starting from South Mimms village. This was a 2nd attempt at the 1st November walk. Cold and icy, but pleasant in the hazy sunshine and occasional light snow shower. Click here for pictures taken on this walk as well as a review. |

Sunday 13th September 2009 |
Walk: 6-7 mile walk through Ashridge Forest, starting and finishing at the Bridgewater Monument. Look out for wild deer and take in the splendour of the former stately home that is now Ashridge College. There is a pub lunch en-route, and the chance to take tea at the National Trust Tea Rooms afterwards. |

Walk: A pleasant 7.5 mile stroll in the countryside near Welwyn. Starting at an attractive church at Ayot St. Peter, take in the Ayot Greenway, a disused railway turned into a path, before walking through a golf course and mixed fields and woodland on well marked paths on the way to Shaw's Corner where playwright Bernard Shaw lived and worked for more than 40 years. After lunch we pass more mixed fields, horse paddocks and woodland edges as we return back to the start point. A fairly easy and mostly fairly flat walk. Walk: A 6.7 mile circular walk starting in the Dunstable downs, from meadows and woods at the base to rolling hills and stunning views as we ascend to the visitor centre for lunch. Walk: 7 mile walk near Chandler's Cross, Herts. Well-marked paths over mainly flat ground - some stretches of road. Suitable for everybody. No pubs on the way round so bring own sandwiches but can find tea/refreshments afterward. Click here for pictures taken on this walk. |

Walk: 6 mile leisurely walk taking roughly 4 hours. Tring, Aston Clinton and Wendover area of the Chiltern Hills including woodland, a tranquil canal and beautiful views. Pub at end of walk, no pub in middle so bring some drink and food. Car park charge £3 per car. Car sharing and sharing petrol and car parking costs is encouraged. |

Walk: 8.5 mile circular walk starting in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. The first half of the walk follows the course of the Thames to Whitchurch. Walk: Between 5-6 miles in Ashwell, Herts and a pub at the end. Also as Ashwell is one of Herts nicest and picturesque villages, weather permitting, we can spend some time there after the walk. |

Walk: 8 mile walk in the Chilterns. Starting in the Sundon Hills, then stopping at The Chequers pub in Streatley. Then we follow the Icknield Way path up onto the Sharpenhoe Clappers ridge before exploring the ridge top a bit then dropping down into the fields below the Sundon Hills as we head back to the start point. Walk: 7 mile walk taking us through Verulanium Park to Park Street and back. The route follows the Ver and Colne rivers through meadows, and takes in the Old Nunnery and Roman ruins. Walk: 5.5 miles on level ground around the Thames near Richmond, with plenty of cafes and pubs on route. Isleworth, Richmond, Marble Hill, Eal Pie Island and Twickenham. We pass the sights where executions were carried out at the orders of Henry VIII, English civil war battles, and where the Romans crossed the Thames in 54BC.
